Too many small businesses are run with messy folder structures and excel spreadsheets. CRM software solutions exist to simplify the administration side of running a small business.

The problem with these CRM solutions is that they are not made for the business paying for them. They're templates without the customisation, forcing small business owners to conform their existing workflows to the template CRM software they decide to pay for.

The solution

A tailored solution

The clearest solution for us was to build our own solution! The I63 Portal is a one stop shop for all aspects of management of the business. It allows for the managing of clients, work logs, expenses, financial reporting, invoice generation, documentation storage/linking and PDF editing.

It runs as a dynamic web application hosted with Firebase so it can be accessed from any mobile device via the browser with sign-in using Firebase Authentication. The backend linking of clients to their work logs, invoices and related documents ensures all information for every client is always readily accessible from any browser.

Tech stack

Foundations of the portal

The I63 portal was built using Vue 3 and TypeScript for their efficiency and versatility in building web user interfaces. The UI component library, PrimeVue 4, allowed for quick development of the portal while keeping the final design and interface still looking professional.

Familiarity with Firebase services meant using Firebase for this project was a no brainer. Firebase Authentication allows for secure, private access from any device. NoSQL Firestore for cloud database management, Firebase Hosting and Storage all used in tandem for a seamless internal CRM portal.
